Description

This painting depicts a scene of traditional aquaculture in Owase Bay, Mie Prefecture, Japan, circa 1980. It shows the boat "Naka Yama Maru" actively harvesting cage-raised amberjack that has reached market size. With precision and skill, the fish farmers tighten the nets of the cages to gather the fish. A landing net is used to collect the amberjack, which is then transported to the holding tank of the service vessel. The floating cages, the nets, and the confident movements of the crew create a dynamic and realistic atmosphere, reflecting the meticulous and organized work involved in fish farming.

In the background, the verdant mountains and clear sky add a touch of serenity to this scene of labor, emphasizing the harmony between humankind and nature. This painting is a tribute to these moments of hard work that are an integral part of life in coastal communities.
