In this oil painting, I celebrated the courage and fighting spirit of the American soldiers in the Pacific as they invaded Iwo Jima, the last stop before Okinawa. A Grumman TBF Avenger flies across the scene of the famous flag-raising scene atop Mount Areva. I wanted to capture the fervor and human solidarity of the flag-raising moment. With each figurative brushstroke, I express the enthusiasm and anticipation of imminent victory. This painting evokes resilience and success, infusing the work with an energy of determination and unity.
